The term intuition means the ability to be able to find the answers, facts or truth without using conscious reasoning or processing skills. In layman’s terms, this simply means that intuition is the act of knowing something immediately without any explanations or information. The word intuition was derived from the Latin word “intueri,” meaning “seeing within.” When we use our intuition, we are seeing within without using our physical senses, but instead our subconscious mind.

Everyone gains awareness by using their five main physical senses. However, not everyone has developed the awareness of their sixth sense, and in many cases, people have never heard of nor thought about anything beyond the possibility of sensing what is physically in front of them. However, it’s our sixth sense that allows us to connect and communicate with the Universe, and allows us to develop our intuition.

The Benefits and Importance of Developing Your Intuition

“The only real valuable thing is intuition.”- Albert Einstein

According to Carl Jung, a psychiatrist well-known for his research in dream analysis, intuition is a major part of the human mind, and just as important as feeling and thinking: “I regard intuition as a basic psychological function that mediates perception in an unconscious way. Intuition enables us to divine the possibilities of a situation.”

Many other doctors, psychiatrists and spiritual leaders feel the same as Jung, and believe your intuition is as important as learning to read and talk. There are a variety of benefits to developing your intuition. For example, with intuition, you begin the process of healing yourself including your body, emotions, soul and weaknesses. You can also help better your life by making the correct choices in the future, in addition to solving issues and problems you may have otherwise not been able to figure out. Above all however, developing your intuition will let you get in touch with the spiritual side of yourself that isn’t available to the physical senses, and this in turn is a wonderful experience that allows you to see what your soul is made of.

How to Develop Your Intuition

“Intuition is the clear conception of the whole at once.” – James Kaspar Lavater

Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to be psychic to develop your intuition. Everyone has the capability of developing their own intuition. First and foremost, you have to learn how to feel things and think about things in a calm manner. Intuition is developed when you can calmly analyze, use common sense, reflect in self-thought and meditate. Take time every day to sit quietly and reflect. Let go of any thoughts or feelings that cause you to analyze, stress or worry. Once you have achieved this state of mind, you can then go on to next step.

 Listen to Your Sixth Sense

“Never ignore a gut feeling, but never believe that it’s enough.” – Robert Heller

Your sixth sense is that little voice that tells you that you shouldn’t go out driving even though the store is just a few minutes away. It’s that voice that tells you that something just doesn’t feel quite right even though everything is seemingly fine. Learn to trust those first hunches, and hold on to them. Many people dismiss their sixth sense because it is too scary to deal with or maybe it just seems absurd. In all actuality, the first hunch or instinct is usually the truth.

 Be Aware and Keep Focus

“If a single man plants himself indomitably on his instincts, and there abide, the huge world will come round for him.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

No matter where you are, you need to be aware of yourself and your surroundings. It’s extremely easy, especially when in a hurry, to move through life “without stopping to smell the roses.” However, the more information that you soak in about your surroundings, the easier it will be for your subconscious to make a quick and deliberate decision at the right time, which is what intuition is all about. Intuition inherently uses from the information processed by the conscious mind in order for your subconscious mind to communicate your intuition to you.

Not only should you pay close attention to your surroundings, but pay special attention to things that may seem mundane, because you never know when something may be more significant than you think. For example, let’s say a song that you despise is stuck in your head. You can’t get it out of your mind, but you dislike the song so much that you ignore the meaning behind it. That song could be some sort of flash of inspiration that your subconscious is trying to deliver. Don’t ignore the small things. Take in everything you can and experience each day to its fullest.

 Development While Sleeping

“Good Instincts tell you what to do long before your head has figured it out.”- Michael Burke

Each night before you go to sleep, think about the day’s events and pay special attention to any situations that happened in which you didn’t have a solution. Reflect over any possibilities you can think of so that your thoughts will be activated, and your subconscious mind can help you come up with a solution while you are sleeping. A good majority of people tend to forget their dreams as soon as they wake up, so be certain to have a journal, computer, or voice recorder handy upon waking. Write or say everything that you dreamed of, even if it seems that it doesn’t mean anything. This is an exceptional way to tap into your subconscious and find feelings, thoughts and ideas that can help to further your intuition development.

Developing you sixth sense is so important. Follow the steps above to see if you can become more aware of your intuition. This will be your connection to Universe!
